Personal and carreer goals.

Ÿ

List of personal or career goals I anticipated in accomplish within the next five years after graduation:

Ÿ Travel.

Strategic plan: after graduate from Baruch, I plan to spend at least two months traveling around Europe and go back to my birth city, Hong Kong.

Ÿ Get my CPA license.

Strategic plan: after graduate from Baruch, I plan to work for a CPA firm to utilize my knowledge and skills that I have attained and enroll into a CPA workshop. I plan to give myself a two year period to prepare for the CPA examination.

Ÿ To buy my own house.

Strategic plan: once I start working, I plan to save half of my annual salary and hopefully within the next five years I will have enough money to pay for the down payment of my new house. My target saving would be at least $150,000. My ideal house would be located around Queens.

Ÿ Get into graduate school.

Strategic plan: after attained the above two goals, my next plan would be to go to graduate school, majoring in accounting. My plan is to get reimburse from my company to finance me to go to graduate school.

Hey Kyle,
Your goals sound interesting and it seem that you know for sure what you want to do after you graduate from baruch, but I am just curious: Do you plan on traveling first, then going for your CPA, or the opposite?

I would suggest that you pass your CPA then take a vacation. Wouldn't it feel much better to not stress about an exam during your trip. And preparing right after you graduate would ensure that you focus.

I like how you plan to travel right after you graduate. I'll probably do the same thing. I would do it, just take my mind off everything, then come back and do whatever it is I have to do...like take the CPA in your case. Your savings plan for a house sounds pretty good, but do you think that saving half your salary is something you'll realistically be able to do? Personally I don't think I'd be able to save anything for a long time, but I guess that depends on the person.

Your goal is simple but solid as it is a common goal of all CPA accountant want to reach.
But in your mind do you have any thought besides CPA accountant which is wild and exciting? In my mind accounting job is dull.
Also can you teach me how (tactics) to save half the salary?
: )

After reading a couple of blogs and including, we all seem to have similar goals graduating from Baruch, get a good job, and then go for graduated school. One of my supervisor back in the days once told me if you ever plan to go back to school, you should do it quick before you just get lazy and get old and don't ever want to go back anymore. He got his masters at Pace University dealing with Finance I believe. And traveling is wonderful but so expensive. I think you should start working alittle first to save money and then travel.

Hi Kyle,
Your goals and plans are simple, but seems to very straight ahead. However, before being stuck with mortgage payment for your dream house, I feel you should spend a portion of your pay check for yourself such as hobby, travelling, or whatever improves yourself. I believe that you have plenty of time putting half of your salary into mortgage payment for you and your family. From just after you get married ^^=
